Storm's paintings are colour arguments, geometric op-art compositions where hues conflict until something resolves. One vibrantly multi-coloured, one sharp monochrome: both have the punchy graphic quality that makes silkscreen exactly the right medium for them.

This pair of silkscreen prints are based on two small painted works by Jonathan Ryan Storm. Known for his complex plays on color, form and pattern in his paintings, we selected one vibrantly multi-colored work and one zippy monochrome piece to realize through screenprint. The punchy colors and geometric op-art quality to these pieces are well suited to the graphic silkscreen printing process.
Rather than the traditional plain canvas or linen, often Storm will use sourced patterned fabrics as the ground for his paintings. During the stretching process these textiles are irregularly warped and pulled, creating a captivating sense of unease or imbalance that he can then respond to through additional painted applications.

Our typical framing practice is to float mount prints with 1-inch (2cm) of space around the print. This is a method of framing that keeps the art fully visible in the frame and leaves the edges of the cotton papers exposed. A spacer is added to the frame to keep the artwork from touching the plexiglass. Float mounting requires adhering the print to an acid free foam core back or mat board using acid free linen tape.
UV-filtering plexiglass is used for all frames, an option that has become the industry standard. Plexiglass is lighter, scratch-resistant & shatter-resistant (essential for shipping). It also provides more UV protection and less glare than glass.
Please note that Premium Framing options are currently only available to US clients. For clients in Australia, please email us and we can share framing recommendations based on your location. More information about Custom Framing
